The biggest mistake people make with Roth conversions is thinking they have until tax day to get it done.
You don't.
Roth contributions can be made up until April 15, 2026.
But Roth conversions must be completed by December 31, 2025.
No extensions. No exceptions.
If your conversion isn't processed by the end of the year, it won't count for that year.
And here's the kicker.
Most custodians are flooded with requests in December.
They set internal deadlines that are earlier than the 31st.
Miss their cutoff, and you miss the benefit.
Know the rules.
This one calendar mistake can cost you thousands.
